Mikhail Zhvanetsky was born on March 6, 1934 in Odessa. He grew up and was raised in a Jewish medical family.
The humorist's father, Emmanuil Moiseevich, was a surgeon and head physician of the district hospital. Mother, Raisa Yakovlevna, worked as a dentist.
Childhood and youth
The first years of Mikhail's life were spent in a calm atmosphere. Everything went well until the moment when the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) began.
Soon after Hitler's troops attacked the USSR, Zhvanetsky's father was drafted to the front, where he served as a military doctor. For services to the Fatherland, the man was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
During the war, Mikhail and his mother moved to Central Asia. After the Red Army defeated the enemy, the Zhvanetsky family returned to Odessa.
The future artist's school years were spent in a small Jewish courtyard, which allowed him to create monologues that were unique in color in the future.
After graduating from school, Mikhail Zhvanetsky entered the Odessa Institute of Marine Engineers. After receiving his diploma, the guy worked for some time as a mechanic at a local port.
Creation
While studying at the institute, Mikhail took an active part in amateur performances. At the same time, he was a Komsomol organizer.
Later Zhvanetsky founded the student theater of miniatures "Parnas-2". He performed on stage with monologues, and also painted miniatures for other artists, including Roman Kartsev and Viktor Ilchenko.
In Odessa, the theater quickly gained great popularity, where many local residents and guests of the city went.
Zhvanetsky's monologues dealt with various social problems that touch upon the most pressing issues. And although a certain sadness prevailed in them, the author wrote and performed them in such a way that the audience could not help laughing.
In 1963, a significant event took place in the biography of Mikhail Zhvanetsky. He met the famous satirist Arkady Raikin, who came to Odessa on tour.
As a result, Raikin offered cooperation not only to Zhvanetsky, but also to Kartsev and Ilchenko.
Soon Arkady Isaakovich included many of Mikhail's works in his repertoire, and in 1964 invited him to Leningrad, having approved him as the head of the literary section.
All-Union popularity of Zhvanetsky was brought precisely by cooperation with Raikin, thanks to which the miniatures of the Odessa citizen quickly diverged into quotations.
In 1969 Arkady Raikin presented a new program "Traffic Light", which was enthusiastically received by his compatriots. Moreover, absolutely the entire program consisted of the works of Zhvanetsky.
In addition, Mikhail Mikhailovich wrote over 300 miniatures for the duet of Viktor Ilchenko and Roman Kartsev.
Over time, the writer decides to leave the theater to pursue solo activities. He begins performing on stage with his works, having great success with the public.
In 1970 Zhvanetsky, together with Kartsev and Ilchenko, returned to his native Odessa, where he founded a theater of miniatures. The concerts of the artists are still sold out.
At that time, the famous monologue "Avas" was written by the satirist, which made the audience fall with laughter. At the same time, this miniature, performed by Kartsev and Ilchenko, was repeatedly shown on Soviet TV.
Later Zhvanetsky began to collaborate with Rosconcert, where he worked as a production director. Then he moved to the literary publishing house "Young Guard", receiving the position of a staff member.
In the 80s, Mikhail Zhvanetsky created the Moscow Theater of Miniatures, which he heads to this day.
Over the years of his creative biography, the comedian wrote hundreds of monologues for himself and other artists. The most popular of them were such works as “In the Greek hall”, “You can't live like that”, “How they joke in Odessa”, “In the warehouse”, “Okay, Gregory! Excellent, Constantine! " and many others.

Personal life
