Nikolai Rastorguev was born on February 21, 1957 in the city of Lytkarino (Moscow region). He grew up and was brought up in a simple family that has nothing to do with music.
His father, Vyacheslav Nikolaevich, worked as a driver, and his mother, Maria Alexandrovna, was a dressmaker.
Childhood and youth
While studying at school, Nikolai received rather mediocre grades. However, he loved to draw and read books. The boy became interested in music after he heard the songs of the legendary British band The Beatles.

In 2007, the musician was diagnosed with progressive renal failure, requiring regular hemodialysis. A couple of years later, he underwent a kidney transplant. In 2015, Nikolai continued his treatment in Israel.
