Eva Anna Paula Brown (married Eva Hitler; 1912-1945) - concubine of Adolf Hitler, from April 29, 1945 - legal wife.
There are many interesting facts in the biography of Eva Braun, which we will talk about in this article.
So, before you is a short biography of Eva Braun.
Biography of Eva Braun
Eva Braun was born on February 6, 1912 in Munich. He grew up in the family of a school teacher Fritz Braun and his wife Franziska Katarina, who worked as a seamstress in a factory before her marriage. The Brown family had 3 girls: Eva, Ilsa and Gretel.
Childhood and youth
Eve and her sisters were brought up in the Catholic faith, despite the fact that their father was a Protestant. Parents instilled in their daughters discipline and unquestioning obedience, rarely showing them tenderness and affection.
Until the outbreak of World War I (1914-1918), the Browns lived in abundance, but then everything changed. When the head of the family went to the front, the mother had to feed and take care of the children alone.
At that time, Francis's biography sewed uniforms for German soldiers and lampshades for lamps. However, since there was still not enough money, the woman often had to ask for bread in cafes and bars.
After the end of the war, Fritz Braun returned home and quickly improved the family's well-being. Moreover, Eva's parents were even able to buy a large apartment and a car.
In the period 1918-1922. Hitler's future wife attended a public school, after which she entered the lyceum. According to the teachers, she was smart and quick-witted, but she never did homework and was not obedient.
In her youth, Eva Braun was fond of sports, and also loved jazz and American musicals. In 1928 she studied at the prestigious Catholic Institute "Marienhee", which was famous throughout the world for its high standards.
By then, the 17-year-old had learned accounting and typing. Soon she got a job at a local photo studio, thanks to which she was able to support herself on her own.
Acquaintance with Hitler
The director of the photo studio, where Eva worked, was Heinrich Hoffmann. The man was an ardent supporter of the Nazi party, which at that time was just gaining momentum.
Brown quickly mastered the art of photography, and also performed various assignments of Hoffmann. In the fall of 1929, she met the leader of the Nazis, Adolf Hitler. Mutual sympathy immediately arose between the young people.
And although the future head of Germany was 23 years older than Eve, he managed to quickly win the heart of the young beauty. He often complimented her, gave gifts and kissed her hands, as a result of which Brown wanted to stay with him for life.
To please Hitler, a slightly overweight Eva went on a diet, began to play sports intensively, dress in fashionable outfits, and also use cosmetics. However, until 1932, the relationship between the couple remained platonic.
An interesting fact is that although Adolf Hitler liked Eva Braun, he instructed assistants to check the Aryan origin of his beloved and all members of her family. It is worth noting that he has repeatedly stated that he does not plan to get married, since all his attention is focused solely on politics.
Relationship with Hitler
In the early 30s, the relationship between lovers began to strengthen. And yet Hitler was entirely concerned only with state affairs. For this reason, Eve saw him only at work or read about him in the press.
By that time, his niece, Geli Raubal, began to sympathize with the Nazi. With her he was often noticed in public places and it was to her that he hurried in the evenings. Brown did her best to make Hitler forget about Geli and stay with her.
Soon, Raubal mysteriously died, after which the Fuhrer looked at Brown with different eyes. And yet, their relationship was uneven. A man could be a caring and loving gentleman, and then not appear with a girl for weeks. Eva suffered very much and could hardly bear such an attitude towards herself, but her love and fanatical devotion to Hitler did not allow her to part with him.
Attempted suicide
The incompletely understood relationship was getting worse on Brown's mental state. Adoring the Nazi and suffering from his indifference, she made 2 suicide attempts.
In November 1932, when her parents were not at home, Eva tried to shoot herself with a pistol. By a happy coincidence, Ilsa came to the house, and she saw her bloody sister. When Brown was taken to the hospital, doctors removed a bullet from her neck, which passed next to the carotid artery.
After this incident, Hitler decided to be more attentive to the girl so that she would not again try to commit suicide.
In 1935, Eva swallowed pills, but this time she was saved. It is worth noting that in one of the documentaries, which described the biography of Eva Braun, it was said that all the girl's attempts to commit suicide were carefully planned.
A number of Eva's biographers claim that in this way she tried to attract the attention of the Fuhrer, who was constantly busy. This was the only way she could make her idol worry and be with her at least some time.
Bunker wedding
In 1935, Adolf Hitler bought a house for the sisters Gretel and Eva Braun. He also made sure that the girls had everything they needed for life. As a result, Eva did not deny herself anything and regularly bought fashionable outfits.
And although the girl lived in luxury, she was extremely difficult to endure isolation. Eva understood that now her lover is at some kind of meetings or social parties, and she has to be content only with her sister's company.
When the Fuhrer noticed Brown's despondency and once again listened to her requests to be together more often, he "entrusted" her with the post of secretary, thanks to which Eva could accompany the head of the Third Reich at official receptions.
In 1944, the German army was defeated on almost all fronts, so Hitler forbade Brown to come to Berlin. By the time of his biography, he had already drawn up a will, where Eve's interests were taken into account in the first place.
For the first time in decades, the girl refused to obey the Nazi. On February 8, 1945, she went to see the Fuehrer, knowing full well that she was dooming herself to death. And now the dream of her life has come true - touched by the act of Eva Braun, Hitler made her a long-awaited marriage proposal.
The marriage of the Fuhrer and Eva Braun took place in the bunker on the night of April 29, 1945. Martin Bormann and Joseph Goebbels acted as witnesses at the wedding. The bride was dressed in a black silk dress that the groom asked her to wear. On the marriage certificate, for the first and last time in her life, she signed her husband's surname - Eva Hitler.
Death
The next day, April 30, 1945, Eva and Adolf Hitler locked themselves in an office, where they took their own lives. The woman, like her husband, was poisoned with cyanide, but the latter still managed to shoot himself in the head.
The bodies of the spouses were taken to the garden of the Reich Chancellery. There they were doused with gasoline and set on fire. The remains of the Hitler couple were hastily buried in a bomb crater.
