Who is a logistician? Today, this word is found quite often both in colloquial speech and in the Internet space. There are different educational institutions in which logistics are studied in detail. However, not everyone knows what is meant by this concept.
In this article we will tell you who logisticians are, and what they do.
What is logistics
Logistics - management of material, informational and human resources in order to optimize them (minimize costs). In simple words, logisticians do their best to carry out transportation and manage various resources as cheaply, comfortably and quickly as possible.
The profession of a logistician requires theoretical and practical training. He must be able to competently solve problems, since any miscalculation can lead to large financial and temporary losses.
Transport logistics
This type of logistics is a system through which carriers deliver goods. It consists of several stages:
- route calculation;
- selection of the appropriate transport;
- selection of proper personnel;
- financial calculations and organization of cargo transportation.
Thus, the logistician needs to carefully analyze each separate stage of the task. For example, if a customer asks to transfer a chair from one settlement, this does not require a large truck and a team of loaders, since transportation costs and charges for unloading / loading may exceed the cost of the chair.
Small-sized transport will be enough for this, as a result of which it will be possible to save fuel, labor and increase the speed of transportation. Based on this, the logistician always takes into account the mass, volume and texture of the transported goods in order to perform a particular task.
In fact, there are many other types of logistics: warehouse, military, resource, purchasing, sales, customs, information, environmental, etc. However, the principle of any logistics system is based on the competent allocation and calculation of resources, which includes time, financing, route, selection of transport and personnel, as well as many other nuances.
