In the northern part of Kenya, you can find the island of Envaitenet, which, according to local residents, "absorbs" people. For many years, no one wants to live on a mysterious island, since there is a possibility of repeating the fate of those who disappeared forever for unknown reasons in its vicinity. And these are not fictitious legends, but quite confirmed facts.
What happened on Envaitenet Island?
Once in 1935, a group of English ethnographers performed their duties here, studying the daily life and traditions of the local people of Elmolo. The head of the group with several team members remained at the base location, while two employees went directly to Envaitenet. At nightfall, they blinked lamps - this sign testified that everything is fine. At some point, the signals from them stopped coming, but the team thought that they had just gone further away.
But after a two-week lull, a search and rescue team was dispatched to deploy the plane. They found neither people nor equipment with personal belongings. It looked as if no one had gone ashore for many years. A lot of money was also allocated to 50 indigenous people to go around the whole island, but in vain.
In 1950, people began to move here, as a result of which a kind of settlement was formed. Relatives and friends of families living here sometimes came to the island. But when they once again came to them, they saw only empty houses and rotten food. About 20 people are missing.
The first settlers of the island
For the first time, people settled in this ominous place in 1630. Little by little, there were more of them, but they were puzzled by the fact that under such climatic conditions there were absolutely no animals. In addition, very smooth brown stones, which periodically disappeared somewhere, caused concern. And when the moon took the shape of a sickle, there were distinct, terrible groans.
All the inhabitants as one saw visions with extraordinary creatures - they only slightly looked like people. After such visions, people were immobile for several hours and could not speak. And then grief always happened to someone: they died from poisoning, broke their arms, legs, drowned in water. Some claimed to have seen gloomy creatures that appeared right in front of their faces and instantly disappeared. Many children disappeared near their parents, they were searched for for a long time, but they were not found.
