On September 24, 2018, the 12th season of the series "The Big Bang Theory" starts. A sitcom about young scientists, too immersed in science and far from real life, which began rather tightly, quite unexpectedly, even for the creators themselves, became one of the most popular TV series comparable to Friends or How I Met Your Mother.
The authors and actors of "The Big Bang Theory" with minimal losses overcame the crisis that is dangerous for every long series, connected with the growing up or aging of the heroes. Humor, even after a decade, remains at a decent level, and some ingenuity, which suffered the first seasons, was gradually eliminated. The new season, which was previously named “final”, is likely to be no less successful than the previous ones. Let's try to look back and remember what interesting things happened in The Big Bang Theory, on and off the set.
1.In terms of popularity, the best so far is season 8, which was released in 2014/2015. Each episode was watched by an average of 20.36 million viewers. The first season attracted an average of 8.31 million people.
2. The entire series is one huge science fiction. The episodes are named after scientific theories, the protagonists are named after Nobel laureates, and even Amy Fowler's apartment number - 314 - is a reference to π. All the formulas on the boards of Leonard and Sheldon that fall into the frame are real.

3. In “The Big Bang Theory” there are a lot of cameos - cases when a person plays himself. In particular, cameos were noted by two astronauts, four scientists (including Stephen Hawking), several writers, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and countless actresses and actors from Charlie Sheen to Carrie Fisher.
4. Jim Parsons playing the role of Sheldon Cooper, unlike his character, is completely indifferent to comics. According to his own statement, for the first time in his life Parsons picked up a comic strip only on the set of The Big Bang Theory. The same goes for Doctor Who and Star Trek - Parsons doesn't watch them. But Sheldon Cooper basically does not drive a car because Parsons is very sick in cars.

5. Parsons is gay. In 2017, he married Todd Spivak. The pompous ceremony took place at the Rockefeller Center, and the young people were married according to the Jewish rite.

6. In the pilot episodes, Parsons tried to play his character according to his experience (he already had 11 films and extensive experience in the theater) and education. It turned out, in the opinion of critics, not very convincing. Then the actor began to behave as in life off-screen. His colleagues took up this initiative, and the series quickly gained momentum and became popular.
7. Theremin, which is periodically tormented by the hero of Parsons, is actually a very complex instrument. It was invented by the Russian scientist Lev Termen in 1919. The principle of the theremin is to change the tone and volume of the sound depending on the position of the musician's hands. At the same time, the dependence of tone and volume differs from other instruments in nonlinearity - the musician must feel the instrument very subtly. Apparently, the theremin in The Big Bang Theory is a kind of analogue of the Sherlock Holmes violin - the great detective also did not indulge those around him with beautiful melodies.
8. Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter, had the greatest acting experience among his co-stars before filming The Big Bang Theory - he has been filming since 1988. However, apart from the series "Rosanna", all his roles were episodic, and only the series made Galecki a star. The same Parsons, whose filming career began in 2002, before "Theory ..." had a couple of theater awards and a dozen nominations for them. But Galecki plays the cello (and in the film too) much better than Parsons on the theremin.

9. Kaley Cuoco (Penny) in 2010 fell so badly from her horse that as a result of a complex fracture there was a threat of amputation of her leg. It was all about plaster cast and minor changes in the role - in two episodes, Penny turned from a waitress into a bartender. This was required to hide the cast. I didn't have to invent anything - for television, this is a classic way to disguise an actress's pregnancy.

10. Howard Wolowitz's Simon Helberg started playing nerds back in 2002 when he starred in the movie King of the Parties. His hero, unlike most other characters, does not have a doctorate, but Wolowitz is an excellent practitioner. He created a toilet for the International Space Station. Moreover, in the series, Volowitz solved problems with his device, which were exactly repeated in space just a few months later.

11. The voice of Wolowitz's mother was actress Carol Ann Susie, who was never destined to appear in the frame - in 2014 she died of cancer. Died in the series and Mrs. Wolowitz.
12. Kunal Nayyar, playing the role of Rajesh Koothrappali, actually made his screen debut in The Big Bang Theory. Prior to that, he performed only in amateur theater companies. Nayyar published a book with the characteristic title “Yes, my accent is real and something else that I didn't tell you about”. The main feature of his character is selective silence - Raj cannot talk to girls. Coupled with ballet and aerobics classes, love of “female” TV series and constant weight control, this leads his mother and other characters to think that Raj is a latent gay. And the performer of his role is married to Miss India 2006.

13. Mayim Bialik (Amy Fowler) came out on set as a child. She has appeared in several TV series, and can also be seen in Michael Jackson's music video “Liberian Girl”. In 2008, the actress completed her education, becoming a neuroscientist. Amy Fowler appeared in the third season of The Big Bang Theory as a neuroscientist and a possible Sheldon's girlfriend, and has since become one of the stars of the sitcom. Mayim Bialik, like Kaley Cuoco, had to hide the consequences of the injury. In 2012, she broke her arm in a car accident and in a couple of episodes she was removed only from the side of her healthy hand, and once she had to wear a glove.

14. In 2017/2018, the series “Sheldon's Childhood” was released, dedicated, as you might guess, to the main character of “The Big Bang Theory”. In terms of popularity, Sheldon's Childhood does not yet reach the "big brother", but the audience of each episode ranged from 11 to 13 million. The second season began in the fall of 2018.

15. Ahead of Season 11, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg offered to cut their own streak fees by $ 100,000 in order for Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rausch to earn more. The actors of the four received a million dollars per episode, while the royalties of Bialik and Rausch, who came to the series later, were $ 200,000.
