What is monitoring? Today this word has become firmly established in the Russian lexicon. However, not everyone knows the true meaning of this term yet.
In this article, we will explain what monitoring means and in which areas it is worth using this concept.
What does monitoring mean
Monitoring is a system of continuous observation of phenomena and processes taking place in the environment and society, the results of which help to assess certain events.
It is worth noting that monitoring can take place in completely different areas. This word is derived from the English "monitoring", which translated means - control, check, observe.
Thus, through monitoring, information of interest is collected in any area. Thanks to this, it becomes possible to provide a forecast of the development of an event or find out the current state of affairs in a particular area.
Monitoring also includes the analysis or processing of the information received. For example, you decided to sell umbrellas. To do this, you start monitoring any information related to umbrellas: how many people live in the region where you are going to open a business, how solvent they are, are there such stores in that area and how their trade is going.
Thus, you collect any relevant information that helps you make a forecast regarding the development of your project. It is possible that after collecting data, you will abandon the business, because you will see it unprofitable.
Monitoring can take place on a small or large scale. For example, in the course of financial monitoring, the Central Bank monitors the main indicators of all banks in order to find out about the possible bankruptcy of any of them.
Monitoring is carried out in virtually all spheres of life: educational, cultural, rural, industrial, informational, etc. On the basis of the data obtained, a person or a group of people manages to understand what is being done correctly and what needs to be changed.
