Asperatus clouds look ominous, but this look is more feigned than heralding a catastrophe. It seems as if the raging sea has taken off into the sky, the waves are ready to cover the whole city, but the all-consuming hurricane does not come, only oppressive silence.
Where did the asperatus clouds come from?
This natural phenomenon was first noticed in Great Britain in the middle of the last century. From the moment the terrible clouds enveloped the sky for the first time, a whole stream of photographers appeared who collected a collection of images from different cities of the world. Over the past 60 years, this rare type of cloud has appeared in the USA, Norway, New Zealand. And if at first they frightened people, as they inspired thoughts of an impending catastrophe, today they cause more curiosity because of their unusual appearance.
In June 2006, an unusual photo appeared that quickly spread on the network. It was included in the collection of the "Society of Cloud Lovers" - people who collect amazing images of beautiful phenomena and conduct research into the nature of their occurrence. The initiators of the society submitted a request to the World Meteorological Organization with a request to consider the most terrible clouds as a separate type of natural phenomenon. Since 1951, no changes have been made to the International Atlas, so it is not yet known whether asperatus clouds will enter there, because they have not yet been sufficiently studied.
A spokesman for the National Center for Atmospheric Research said there is a high likelihood that this species will be categorized. True, most likely they will appear under a different name, since there is a rule: a natural phenomenon is called a noun, and Undulatus asperatus is translated as "wavy-bumpy".
Studying the phenomenon of frightening clouds asperatus
For the formation of a certain type of clouds, special prerequisites are needed that shape their shape, density and density. It is believed that asperatus is a relatively new species that did not appear earlier than the 20th century. In appearance, they are very similar to thunderclouds, but no matter how dark and dense they are, as a rule, a hurricane does not occur after them.
Clouds are formed from a large accumulation of liquid in a vapor state, due to which such a density is achieved through which you cannot see the sky. The sun's rays, if they shine through the asperatus, only add to their fearsome look. Nevertheless, even in the presence of a large accumulation of liquid, rain and, moreover, a storm does not occur after them. After a short time interval, they simply dissipate.
We recommend seeing the Ukok plateau.
The only precedent happened in 2015 in Khabarovsk, when the appearance of thick clouds provoked a powerful thunderstorm downpour, reminiscent of tropical rains. The rest of the asperatus clouds are accompanied by complete calm with forcing silence.
Despite the fact that the phenomenon occurs more and more often, scientists still cannot understand exactly what conditions provoke this type of clouds in order to distinguish it into a separate component of the meteorological atlas. Perhaps not only the peculiarities of nature, but also the state of ecology are the prerequisites for the appearance of this unusual sight, but it is a pleasure to watch it.
