Jacob's Well is a recognized miracle of nature, but fraught with many dangers. The reservoir is a narrow cave tens of meters deep. The water in it is so clean that it seems as if the abyss itself has opened its gates underfoot. Tourists from different countries strive to see the creation of nature with their own eyes and risk making a jump into unknown depths.
Jacob's well location
The karst spring is located in Wimberley, Texas, USA. Cypress Creek flows into the reservoir, which, in addition to underwater waters, feeds a deep well. Its diameter does not exceed four meters, therefore, when viewing the miracle of nature from above, the illusion arises that it is infinite.
In fact, the actual length of the cave is 9.1 meters, then it goes at an angle, branching into several channels. Each of them gives rise to another, which is why the final depth of the source exceeds the 35-meter mark.
Dangerous ramifications of caves
In total, it is known about the presence of four caves of Jacob's well, each of which has its own characteristics. Divers from different parts of the world try to conquer these depths, but not everyone manages to get out of the tangled tunnel.
The first cave begins at the end of the vertical descent at approximately 9 meters depth. It is quite spacious and well lit. Tourists who descend here can admire the floating fish and algae covering the walls, take beautiful photos of the underwater world.

The entrance to the second channel is rather narrow, so not everyone dares to conquer this passage. You can easily slip inside, but getting out of it will be much more difficult. This is what caused the death of a young scuba diver Richard Patton.
The third cave is fraught with danger of a different kind. The entrance to it is located even further, inside the second branch. Its depth is over 25 meters. The upper walls of the opening are composed of loose minerals, which, at the slightest touch, can collapse and block the exit forever.
To get to the fourth cave, you have to go through the most difficult path, covered on all sides with limestone. Even the slightest movement raises whitish particles from the surface and obstructs visibility. No one has yet managed to go all the way and explore the depths of the last branch of Jacob's well, which was given the name of the Virgin Cave.
Legends attracting tourists
It is believed that by jumping into the well once and leaving it without looking back, you can provide yourself with luck for the rest of your life. True, most tourists are so captivated by emotions from one jump into the abyss that they simply do not have enough strength to refuse the second.
It is believed that this source is a symbol of the origin of life, because a huge supply of the purest water is collected here, which is the fundamental principle of everything. It is not for nothing that he was given the name in honor of the saint; many ministers mention an amazing place in their sermons. Artists, writers and ordinary tourists come to Jacob's Well every year to enjoy the beauty of natural creation.
